Democratic Party Candidate Lee Registers for Presidential Election on the Morning of the 10th
"This election is a battle between the true and the fake Republic of Korea"
Lee Jaemyung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, completed his registration as a candidate for the 21st presidential election on the first day of candidate registration, May 10.
On the morning of the same day, at the National Election Commission in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, Kim Yoondeok, Director of General Affairs for the Democratic Party's election campaign committee, Lim Hoseon, Deputy Director of General Affairs, and actor Lee Kwanhoon completed the candidate registration for Lee on his behalf.
Lee was unable to attend as he was on the Yeongnam-Silla Belt Alley-to-Alley Listening Tour, where he was hearing the opinions of residents in the Yeongnam region.
After the registration, Director Kim told reporters, "This presidential election is a battle between the true Republic of Korea and the fake forces of Korea," adding, "We must win and reclaim the true Republic of Korea, as well as the real Taegeukgi, not the fake one."
Actor Lee handed a traditional wooden frame (jige) to Director Kim, saying, "I prepared this jige to ask you to stand with the people, to serve them with your feet on the ground, and to become a true worker for the people. Please make sure to deliver this to Lee Jaemyung." Lee drew attention on December 3, 12·3 Emergency Martial Law, for persuading martial law troops at that time.
Deputy Director Lim stated, "Politicians often say they will become servants of the people when they enter politics," and added, "I will not just say it, but truly show myself as someone who can shoulder the burdens of the people, like a jige-bearer."
