Group FiftyFifty's "Day & Night" surpassed the first-day initial sales of their previous work "Love Tune," easily breaking their own record and achieving a career high. Attract
Attract has announced that it is preparing to appeal the first-instance court ruling regarding the copyright lawsuit over the girl group FiftyFifty's hit song "Cupid."
On May 9, Attract released an official statement saying, "Regarding the first-instance lawsuit over the copyright of 'Cupid' with The Givers, which was decided today (May 8), we are currently conducting a legal review and preparing to file an appeal."
On May 8, the Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 62 (Presiding Judge Lee Hyunseok) ruled against Attract in the copyright confirmation lawsuit filed against the outsourcing production company The Givers. The court stated, "According to the wording of the contract, the copyright holder is The Givers," and did not accept Attract's claims.
"Cupid," released in 2023, gained popularity through social networking services (SNS) and entered the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The copyright was secured by The Givers from overseas composers through a buyout arrangement and registered with the Korea Music Copyright Association.
Separately, Attract is also pursuing civil and criminal lawsuits against The Givers and CEO An Sungil over allegations of "tampering."
