Gwangju Transportation Corporation Completes Replacement of Electric Train Car Seats

by Expanding Seats for Transportation-Vulnerable Passengers

Gwangju Transportation Corporation recently completed the replacement of seats in all cars of the electric trains. Gwangju Transportation Corporation (President Cho Ikmun) announced on May 8 that it has recently completed the replacement of seats in electric trains to create a more comfortable urban rail environment and improve convenience for transportation-vulnerable passengers.

Through this comprehensive replacement, the seats in each train car have been distinguished by three different colors to improve visibility and convenience for passengers. In addition, flame-retardant materials that meet domestic safety standards have been used to significantly enhance fire safety.

In response to an aging population, the proportion of seats designated for transportation-vulnerable passengers has been increased to 34% of all seats, thereby improving public transit accessibility for the elderly. Furthermore, seats previously reserved for pregnant women, which were placed next to the transportation-vulnerable seats, have been relocated to general seating areas to enhance convenience for pregnant women and passengers accompanied by infants.

Cho Ikmun, President of Gwangju Transportation Corporation, stated, "We expect that the replacement of seats in electric train cars will contribute to creating a more convenient public transportation environment," and added, "We will continue to make every effort to provide the best transportation services."
