Chonnam National University Animal Hospital announced on May 8 that it has newly opened a "24-Hour Emergency Medical Center" to address the gap in emergency medical care for local companion animals.
Until now, Chonnam National University Animal Hospital has operated mainly on a weekday daytime appointment basis, making it difficult to effectively respond to emergencies that occur at night or on holidays. In particular, there were limitations in providing continuous treatment for critical patients and securing the golden hour, so the lack of an emergency medical system in the region has been consistently pointed out as a problem.
To resolve these issues, Chonnam National University Animal Hospital appointed Professor Noh Woongbin of the Department of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine as the director of the center, assigned dedicated emergency medical staff, and completed the establishment of emergency rooms and intensive care facilities. As a result, the hospital has established a system that can provide specialized and immediate emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Director Lee Bongju stated, "The opening of this 24-Hour Emergency Medical Center is an important starting point for establishing emergency medical services that the local community can trust," and added, "We will continue to do our best to become the hospital that local companion animal guardians turn to first and trust the most, through ongoing improvements in medical services."
Emergency Medical Center Director Noh Woongbin said, "With state-of-the-art equipment and skilled medical staff on standby at all times, the Emergency Medical Center will provide prompt and accurate emergency care to animals suffering from sudden accidents or illnesses," and added, "We will focus all our capabilities on protecting precious lives and alleviating the concerns of guardians."
