On May 8, Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) announced that it will collaborate with Incheon Urban Corporation (iH) and Gyeonggi Housing and Communities Corporation (GH) to promote development in the field of urban renewal projects in the Seoul metropolitan area.

SH Corporation, iH, and GH have formed the 'Metropolitan Corporations Urban Renewal Council' and held an agreement ceremony the previous day. Through this agreement, they plan to establish a joint response system for promoting urban renewal projects in the metropolitan area. They also intend to actively pursue institutional improvements, technical exchanges, and practical cooperation across all aspects of urban renewal projects.

The main areas of cooperation include: ▲national and local government urban renewal projects, ▲redevelopment, reconstruction, and housing environment improvement projects, ▲high-density mixed-use development projects near city center transit stations, and ▲small-scale housing renewal and semi-basement housing remodeling, among others.

In addition, the corporations plan to operate quarterly working-level meetings and to strengthen the capabilities of practitioners and introduce best practices by holding joint research groups and urban renewal forums.

Hwang Sangha, President of SH Corporation, stated, "This agreement will strengthen solidarity among metropolitan corporations and serve as an important foundation for proactively responding to rapidly changing government policies." He added, "We will do our utmost to enhance the quality of life for citizens by expanding the public sector's role."
