Damyang County in South Jeolla Province organized a warm and meaningful event for local seniors in celebration of Family Month in May. On May 7, the county announced that it had hosted the "Love and Sharing for Filial Piety" event at the Hyangchon Senior Welfare Center, inviting over 400 elderly participants.
The event was organized by the Hyangchon Senior Welfare Center and offered a variety of programs for the elderly, including cultural performances, the presentation of carnations, and sharing of Jajangmyeon noodles, providing enjoyment for all attendees.
The Chuwol Band (led by Park Wongil, with Kim Seongyoung as president) gave a cultural performance. The Gachi&Gachi Volunteer Group (led by Choi Byeongje) presented carnations to the seniors, while the Damyang County Rice Cake Mill Association (led by Park Juhee) donated rice cakes. The Hyosarang Volunteer Group (led by Park Youngsoo, with Jo Jangok, owner of Geumnong Banjeom) prepared and served Jajangmyeon noodles with care.
County Governor Jeong Cheolwon expressed his gratitude, saying, "I deeply thank the local seniors who have dedicated themselves to making Damyang what it is today. Going forward, I will continue to listen attentively to the voices of our seniors and serve them wherever they may be."
Meanwhile, the Hyangchon Senior Welfare Center supports the healthy and vibrant lives of local seniors through a range of programs, including cultural and leisure activities, rehabilitation exercise, and healing foot baths.
