Experience Programs Such as 'Georeuriratta', Moonlight Walk, and Plogging Draw Large Crowds
Residents Operate 'Cheongsando Tourism Office'... Festival Grows into a Community Event
Wando County in South Jeolla Province announced on May 8 that a total of 50,198 people visited the '2025 Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival,' which was held over the course of a month until May 4. In particular, on the last day of the festival, May 4, a record daily high of 4,278 visitors was set.
Held under the theme 'Let’s Play Day and Night in Cheongsando,' the festival’s main program, 'Walking in Cheongsando,' involved walking along 11 courses of the Cheongsando Slow Road. Around 1,400 participants enjoyed the spring scenery of Cheongsando, which was colored with canola flowers.

The nighttime program 'Cheongsando Moonlight Night Walk' and the stargazing experience 'Cheongsando, Where You Can See the Stars' were sold out for every session, drawing great popularity. The 'Slow Road Plogging' activity, which combined environmental protection with walking, also received positive feedback from participants. Participants spent meaningful time by collecting trash and then receiving eco-friendly kits.
New programs introduced for the first time this year, such as 'Guduljang Rice Paddy Mill,' 'Beombawi Energy Bracelet Making,' and 'Cheongsando Visible Radio,' also attracted high interest from tourists and added diversity to the festival. In particular, this year’s festival was praised for strengthening community spirit and evolving into a resident-led event, as local residents took the initiative through the 'Cheongsando Resident Tourism Office.'
An official from Wando County said, "Thanks to the cooperation of residents and the interest of many visitors over the past month, we were able to successfully conclude the festival," and added, "We hope that all visitors to Slow City Cheongsando had a healing and relaxing time."
