Mastering Equipment First for Safety Inspections... BPA Strengthens Facility Safety Assessment Skills

Busan Port Authority (BPA) conducted a 'Safety Inspection Equipment Training' session for members of its port facility inspection team.

On May 8, the authority announced that this training was organized to enhance the practical skills of the inspection team, which is composed of technical staff, ahead of the regular safety inspection of port facilities in the first half of the year.

The training focused on the use of 11 major safety inspection devices owned by BPA, combining instruction on proper usage with hands-on field practice to maximize effectiveness.

In accordance with the Special Act on Safety and Maintenance of Facilities, BPA commissions safety assessments of Type 1 and Type 2 port facilities to specialized agencies. Other facilities are inspected internally by BPA. In the first half of 2025, BPA plans to conduct regular safety inspections on 285 out of a total of 447 facilities.

This training was designed to help newly appointed employees adapt to field operations. Participants improved their inspection capabilities through practical exercises, such as operating equipment themselves and analyzing measurement data.

Lee Sangkwon, Head of BPA’s Construction Division, stated, "Based on the inspection equipment techniques learned during this training, we will focus on regular inspections to ensure the safety of port facility users and to prevent major public accidents."
