Jeong Sina, CEO of Kakao, stated on May 8, "Collaboration with OpenAI is progressing positively at the current development stage."

During the first quarter earnings conference call that day, Jeong said, "The product jointly developed by the two companies will enable artificial intelligence (AI) to go beyond simple question-and-answer tasks and perform complex operations across various services within the Kakao ecosystem."

She added, "Kakao and OpenAI have agreed on the overall direction of the project, and are now engaging in full-scale collaboration during the development phase."

She further explained, "The collaboration is proceeding in a way that maximizes synergy, with each company dividing roles based on their respective strengths."

OpenAI is responsible for the overall AI technology, leveraging its advanced technical capabilities, while Kakao utilizes the expertise it has accumulated based on its extensive user experience.

Jeong explained, "Kakao plans to focus on agentic AI that connects a variety of B2C services, already established to cover the entire lifecycle, within the Kakao ecosystem."

She predicted, "Within this year, all domestic users will be able to experience new AI capabilities through the agentic AI ecosystem that Kakao will develop."
