National Museum Cultural Foundation to Participate in 2025 Osaka Expo
Showcasing MU:DS Signature Products Including "Pensive Bodhisattva Miniature"
The National Museum Cultural Foundation announced on May 8 that it will participate in the 2025 Osaka Expo "Korea Excellent Products Exhibition," which will be held from May 13 to 16. To mark "Korea Day" at the Osaka Expo, the foundation will introduce its museum product brand "MU:DS" in Japan for the first time. MU:DS stands for "museum goods."
This event, the Korea Excellent Products Exhibition, is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). A total of 40 domestic companies will participate, presenting a wide range of consumer goods to the local market, including beauty, lifestyle, food, and IT-based innovative products. There will also be an experience center and pop-up store themed around "The Daily Life of Korean Women in Their 20s."
The foundation plans to welcome visitors with an exhibition booth under the theme "Mini Museum with MU:DS." The booth will be divided into six zones: the Pensive Bodhisattva, Celadon, White Porcelain, Wooden and Lacquer Crafts, Paintings, and Gyeongju Museum Special Products. A total of more than 80 products will be on display, including the signature "Pensive Bodhisattva Miniature," the "Three Tipsy Scholars Color-Changing Cup Set," and the "Seokguram Lighting."
At the venue, staff fluent in both Korean and Japanese will be available to explain the products, and a QR code linking to the MU:DS overseas online shop (muds.kr) will be provided for visitors interested in making purchases. In addition, the brand will offer an in-depth experience through an introduction video and promotional brochures.
Jung Yongseok, President of the National Museum Cultural Foundation, stated, "MU:DS is meaningful in that it delivers the value of our cultural heritage in everyday life. I hope that participating in this Osaka Expo will serve as an opportunity to promote the National Museum product brand 'MU:DS' to the world."
Since last year, the foundation has been working to lay the groundwork for MU:DS's overseas expansion. Following its participation in the Osaka Expo, the foundation also plans to propose the entry of MU:DS into the Nara National Museum in Japan. The Nara National Museum is currently holding a special exhibition, "Super National Treasures: Eternal Beauty," commemorating its 130th anniversary and featuring 112 Japanese National Treasures.
