Revealed Chat Messages Spark Controversy... "We Like Each Other So Much"
Japanese top actress Mei Nagano (25) and married actor Kei Tanaka (40) have denied rumors of an affair, but controversy is growing as mobile messenger conversations between the two, which appear to support the affair allegations, have been made public.

On May 7, Japanese weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun published an article titled "Mei Nagano and Kei Tanaka's Fiery Affair on LINE (Japanese messenger, LINE)," revealing portions of what are believed to be LINE messenger conversations exchanged between the two.
In the released conversation, Mei Nagano said, "Our bed at my place really suits us, doesn't it? It's funny." Kei Tanaka replied, "It's perfect for you, Mei. It has your scent." When Mei Nagano said, "It's a problem how much we like each other," Kei Tanaka responded, "That's true. (We've been together) seven months. It's only been that long, but every day feels so intense," suggesting a romantic relationship. Mei Nagano also confidently stated, "I'm the only angel for Kei."
Additionally, Mei Nagano showed a confident attitude, saying, "Even if we've been under suspicion for a while, maybe people still don't know we're having an affair?" Kei Tanaka, expressing concern, replied, "What should I say to my agency? That's the problem," and added, "I'm scared that you might disappear from my life. Even now, that's all I can think about," revealing his affection.
Previously, on April 23, Shukan Bunshun reported, "Mei Nagano is in an affair with Kei Tanaka, who is 15 years her senior." According to the outlet, the two were spotted in front of Mei Nagano's home in the early morning of April 19. Kei Tanaka reportedly stayed at Mei Nagano's house until the following morning. A photo of the two standing side by side and holding hands was also released.
The magazine stated, "Mei Nagano and Kei Tanaka met during the filming of the 2021 movie 'And, the Baton Was Passed,' and their relationship deepened last year." The scandal has continued to grow, as Kei Tanaka is a married man with two daughters, having wed in 2011, and in the movie, he and Mei Nagano played a father-daughter pair.
However, immediately after the report, both denied the affair, stating, "We are just close friends, not having an affair." Mei Nagano emphasized, "Kei Tanaka is just a close senior; we have never dated." Kei Tanaka also denied the report, saying, "I am just friends with Mei Nagano." Nevertheless, with the release of conversations that appear to support the affair rumors, there is growing speculation that their future activities may be in jeopardy.
