"The Longer the Unification Controversy Drags On, the Greater the Public Disappointment"
Kwon Sungdong: "Kim Promised Multiple Times to Swiftly Pursue Unification"
Kwon Sungdong, floor leader of the People Power Party, urged Kim Moonsoo, the party's presidential candidate, who is scheduled to meet with Han Ducksoo, an independent presidential contender and former Prime Minister, on the 7th, saying, "There is no more time left. You must finalize the unification today without fail."
At the party meeting held at the National Assembly on this day, Kwon addressed both Kim and Han, stating, "The longer the controversy over unification drags on, the more it only increases disappointment and fatigue," and appealed, "For the sake of the country and the people, I earnestly and repeatedly implore you to honor the will of our party members and keep the promise made to the public by finalizing a roadmap for unification."

Kwon especially emphasized to Kim, "During the presidential primary process, you promised multiple times to swiftly pursue unification with Han," and reiterated, "I earnestly and repeatedly implore you to take seriously the wishes of our party members and the public, who hope to drive out the Lee Jaemyung dictatorship and protect democracy, and to honor this will."
Regarding the Democratic Party's announcement that it would file a complaint with the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) against Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Heedae and nine Supreme Court justices, he criticized, "Is this really a parliament? Is this really a country?" and added, "Such a lawless group is more like a gang than a political party."
He went on to say to the Democratic Party, "You might as well enact a separate 'Lee Jaemyung Not Guilty Act.' Just put Lee Jaemyung's resident registration number in the bill and write, 'This person is sacred and inviolable, therefore always not guilty.' Then just push it through unilaterally, isn't that enough?"
Kwon declared, "The Lee Jaemyung dictatorship is no longer a future threat, but a reality," and continued, "The Lee Jaemyung dictatorship, which is already oppressively dominating the executive and judiciary branches through parliamentary power, has begun. The National Assembly has degenerated into a tool for issuing indulgences for the criminal Lee Jaemyung."
Following Kwon's opening remarks, People Power Party lawmakers held a rally condemning the so-called 'Lee Jaemyung bulletproof legislation,' chanting slogans such as "Immediately withdraw the exoneration law for defendant Lee Jaemyung" and "We denounce the Lee Jaemyung faction for legislative rebellion and power usurpation."
