On May 7, the Icheon City Government announced that a total of 1,141,540 people visited the Icheon Ceramic Festival, which was held for 12 days from April 25 to May 6 at the Icheon Ceramic Art Village (Yes Park) and Sagimakgol Ceramic Village.
This year's festival, held under the theme 'Colors of Ceramics, Light of Icheon,' featured a variety of programs, including a ceramic zoo exhibition, master potter experience programs, busking performances, village-specific exhibitions organized by Yes Park, and live commerce events.
The city analyzed that the number of visitors surpassed 1 million this year because the period from May 1, Labor Day, to May 6 was a de facto extended holiday, and also because tourists were concentrated in the Gyeonggi region due to wildfires in the southern area.
For the 1 millionth visitor, the festival organizing committee presented a five-piece tea set crafted by master potter Yoo Ki-jung.
Kim Kyunghee, Mayor of Icheon, stated, "This year marks a new heyday for the ceramic festival, with balanced advancements not only in festival programming but also in amenities and marketing. The milestone of the 1 millionth visitor is an achievement created by both the citizens of Icheon and visitors from across the country."
