It was announced on May 7 that Jang Hyungap, an English teacher at Daegu Daegun High School, has been selected as the recipient of the 15th Dalseo Eutteum Teacher Award.
The Dalseo Eutteum Teacher Award, now in its 15th year, is presented by the Dalseo Talent Development Scholarship Foundation to teachers who have contributed to the advancement of education through class innovation and improvements in teaching and learning methods. Each year, one outstanding teacher is selected from each level?elementary, middle, and high school?for the award.
Jang Hyungap has identified "creating classes where students can joyfully immerse themselves and practically apply what they have learned in their lives" as the core value of class innovation. He has continuously dedicated himself to developing and disseminating new and effective teaching methods.
In particular, he has taken the lead in developing creative and convergent classes using AI and edutech. He has achieved remarkable results in various class innovation competitions, including first place in the high school division of the Ministry of Education's National Digital-Based Education Innovation Leading School Best Practices Contest (Minister of Education Award), first place in the National English Teachers' Class Competition, first grade in the Secondary Class-Evaluation Research Competition, the Minister of Education Award in the Class Innovation Case Study Competition, and the Grand Prize in the National AI Utilization in Education Case and Idea Contest.
Additionally, he has actively shared his expertise in class innovation with teachers nationwide through a variety of activities. These include serving on the support team for the Ministry of Education's excellent class content sharing platform "Forest of Classes," acting as a content development committee member for award-winning class innovation case studies, conducting research on future education based on AI edutech and mentoring fellow teachers, participating in the teaching and learning materials sharing support group, delivering invited lectures on exemplary cases at the Ministry of Education's Creativity and Character Education Field Network Forum, and giving representative lectures at the National Digital-Based Education Innovation Leading School Best Practices Sharing Conference. In recognition of his contributions to educational innovation and the enhancement of teachers' instructional expertise, he has been honored with this award.
Jang Hyungap stated, "In the coming era that our students will face, creativity, convergent thinking, and AI utilization skills will become key competitive strengths. I want to continue developing and spreading effective, future-oriented teaching methods that engage students' interest and lead class innovation."
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 16 in the main conference room of the Dalseo District Office in Daegu.
