Expansion of Cancer Coverage
"Practical Protection for Cancer Treatment"
Heungkuk Life Insurance announced on May 7 that it will launch the "(Non-Participating) Anti-Cancer Carbon Ion Radiation Therapy Rider," which provides coverage of up to 50 million KRW for carbon ion radiation therapy classified as high-cost treatment, starting from May 8.
This new rider is a product that pays up to 50 million KRW to customers diagnosed with cancer, thyroid cancer, or other skin cancers if they undergo anti-cancer carbon ion radiation therapy. Its main feature is that it offers substantial coverage for high-cost treatments.
Carbon ion radiation therapy is attracting attention as a next-generation treatment method, as it causes less damage to normal tissues compared to conventional radiation therapy and shows high therapeutic effectiveness even for cancers that are highly resistant to radiation.
However, the cost of this treatment can reach tens of millions of KRW, placing a significant financial burden on patients.
Heungkuk Life Insurance developed this rider proactively to respond to changes in the medical environment.
Son Myeonjeong, Head of Product Operations at Heungkuk Life Insurance, stated, "As cancer treatment technologies are advancing rapidly, it is becoming increasingly important to prepare for a variety of treatment options," and added, "We will continue to strengthen practical cancer coverage so that customers can be well-prepared even for high-cost treatments."
