Gyeonggi Province Reports 148 Unsold Public Facility Sites

There are 148 unsold public facility sites in Gyeonggi Province.

Gyeonggi Province announced on May 7 that, after inspecting 150 public facility sites across 37 districts?including Gimpo Hangang, Osan Segyo, and Hwaseong Bongdam?from April 1 to April 29, it found that 148 sites remain unsold.

This inspection was carried out in accordance with the revised "Guidelines for Land Development Project Management" and "Guidelines for Public Housing Project Management," which were amended in January 2025. The inspection scope was expanded to include not only districts that had been completed for two years, but also those scheduled for completion within the next one year and six months.

Of the 150 sites inspected, two have been sold, and 15 are currently under negotiation for purchase. The remaining 133 sites have not been sold. Among these, 79 sites have potential buyers but have been put on hold due to budget shortages or lack of demand, while 54 sites are being considered for a change of use as the intention to purchase has been withdrawn.

Public facility sites, which include land for schools, fire stations, parking lots, and religious facilities, are essential infrastructure closely linked to residents' daily lives. If left unused, they can lead to a decline in urban functionality and inconvenience for residents.

Gyeonggi Province has requested each local government to prepare temporary utilization plans and is working with organizations such as Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) to seek practical uses for these sites. In particular, for the northern region of Gyeonggi, where long-term unsold sites are concentrated, the province is focusing on discussions for institutional improvements and measures to revitalize sales through working-level consultative bodies and meetings with related agencies.
