Jeonnam Governor Kim Youngrok Criticizes Han Ducksoo's Attempt to Visit May 18 Cemetery as Disregard for Honam Kim Youngrok Jeonnam Governor

Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeonnam, stated on May 3, "Former Prime Minister Han Ducksoo's attempt to pay respects at the May 18 Cemetery is an act of 'disregarding Honam.'

On this day, Governor Kim wrote on his Facebook page, "I was truly astonished when former Prime Minister Han attempted to visit the May 18 National Cemetery and claimed that he himself is from Honam," adding, "This is a statement that disregards Honam."

He continued, "If you look at Han Ducksoo's actions after the martial law, there have been more than a few occasions that have bewildered the people of Honam," and criticized, "He must disclose what he did as the Prime Minister of Yoon Sukyeol's illegal insurrection and martial law cabinet."

He went on to say, "As someone shameless enough to abandon such heavy responsibilities, Han Ducksoo should feel ashamed before history and justice," and added, "While it is his right to declare his candidacy, the people clearly remember his record. If he considers himself even a little bit Honam, I hope he regains at least a minimum sense of shame."

Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Han officially announced his presidential bid on May 2 and visited Gwangju to pay respects at the May 18 National Cemetery, but turned back due to opposition from local civic groups.
