"Importance of Cooperation Among Diplomatic and Security Ministries"
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Jooho, who is serving as Acting President, stated, "I hope that we will maintain a flawless state of readiness so that North Korea cannot attempt any provocative actions."
On the morning of May 2, at the Government Complex Seoul, Acting President Lee presided over the National Security Council (NSC) meeting and said, "With a heavy sense of responsibility, I have taken on the grave duty of acting as the chair of the National Security Council," adding, "For the government, above all, the fundamental mission is to safeguard the security of the nation and the lives and safety of the people."
He went on to say, "It is a time when the NSC must redouble its efforts to protect the safety of the nation and the land, while also ensuring that the public does not feel even the slightest anxiety about security."
He continued, "There must not be the slightest gap in any area, whether it be diplomacy, security, national defense, or the economy," and added, "I ask that all ministries and agencies, as well as those working overseas, devote themselves to meticulous crisis management and proactive execution of their duties."
He also emphasized, "I want to stress that close communication and cooperation among the diplomatic and security ministries is more important now than ever," and said, "I ask all ministries and agencies to keep in mind that they are the final line of defense for the nation, and above all, to prioritize the national interest and work as one team, doing their utmost until the very end."
