Promoting Gangseo Miracle Medi Special Zone in the United States
Building Networks to Attract Foreign Patients and Korean Americans
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Kyohun), is actively promoting the medical tourism infrastructure and advanced medical technology of the 'Gangseo Miracle Medi Special Zone' in the eastern United States, aiming to expand its presence in the global medical tourism market.
A promotional delegation consisting of 15 people, including Gangseo-gu Deputy Mayor Jung Heonjae and representatives from medical institutions, recently visited Atlanta and New York to build local networks and carry out various activities to showcase the international competitiveness of Gangseo-gu’s medical tourism.
The delegation participated in the 23rd World Korean Business Convention, operating an exhibition booth to introduce specialized services of Gangseo-gu’s medical institutions, such as health checkups, spine and joint treatments, and Korean traditional medicine. During the event, more than 350 consultations were conducted. Additionally, through meetings with the Atlanta Korean Association and the Korean American Chamber of Commerce, as well as business agreements with local chambers of commerce, the foundation was laid for attracting foreign patients and Korean Americans residing in the United States.
By appearing live on New York K Radio, the delegation promoted the Gangseo Miracle Medi Special Zone to over 250,000 Korean listeners.
Gangseo-gu has the second highest concentration of hospital-level medical institutions in Seoul, with a particular strength in specialized hospitals for spine and joint care. The district plans to use this U.S. promotional campaign as an opportunity to further strengthen its medical tourism infrastructure and brand recognition, and to expand its cooperative network in order to become a global medical tourism hub.
Deputy Mayor Jung Heonjae stated, “Through this trip, we were able to establish a practical foundation for entering the U.S. medical tourism market,” adding, “We will continue to work closely with the Korean community in the United States to attract more foreign patients.”
