Traditional Costumes and AR Experiences Offered
Gwangsan District in Gwangju will officially launch the "Koryoin Village Alley Tour" program, which follows the migration history and culture of Koryoin, starting from May 17.
According to Gwangsan District on May 1, this program is designed to allow participants to explore the Wolgok-dong Koryoin Village area, which preserves traces of forced migration and anti-Japanese resistance during the Japanese colonial period, and to experience the life and culture of Koryoin.
The tour offers four courses in total: two basic courses for children and adults, and two themed courses focusing on art and history. The basic courses include guided tours of the Koryoin Cultural Center, and participants can enjoy a variety of hands-on activities such as trying on traditional Central Asian clothing, making Kalpak (a traditional hat), and preparing carrot kimchi.
The themed courses, introduced for the first time this year, are also attracting attention. The "Koryoin Village Street Docent Tour" is a program where participants tour public artworks installed in the village alleys and works by Koryoin artist Moon Viktor, accompanied by professional guides. In addition, the "AR Alley Quest" uses augmented reality (AR) to allow participants to complete hidden missions throughout the village while learning about the history of the Koryoin.
The tour program will run from May to November, and applications can be submitted through the "Moving Trip" website. The participation fee is 7,900 won, which includes travel insurance, souvenirs, and a Central Asian snack package.
