The Special Investigation Headquarters for Martial Law under the prosecution, led by Park Sehyun, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, announced on this day that former President Yoon had been indicted without detention.
Previously, on January 26, prosecutors had indicted then-incumbent President Yoon on charges of leading a rebellion, which is not covered by the constitutional immunity from prosecution, and sought his detention.
After former President Yoon was removed from office by the Constitutional Court, prosecutors conducted a supplementary investigation and on this day filed additional charges of abuse of power.
The prosecution stated, "We will conduct a thorough investigation into the related allegations and make every effort to maintain the prosecution against the defendant and related accomplices."
