The Gwangju Office of Education will conduct an "Additional High School Admission Process for the 2025 Academic Year" for students who were unable to advance to high school after graduating from middle school.

According to the Gwangju Office of Education on May 1, this process has been established to provide high school education opportunities to those who have passed the middle school equivalency examination and to middle school graduates who have not previously enrolled in a regular high school.

Eligibility is limited to those who have passed the first 2025 middle school equivalency examination, middle school graduates, or those recognized as having an equivalent academic background, who reside in Gwangju and have no record of applying, being selected, or being assigned through the 2025 high school admission process.

Applications will be accepted from May 9 to 13 (excluding weekends), and applicants must submit the required documents in person to the Career and College Guidance Department of the Office of Education. The Office of Education will announce the list of successful applicants and school assignments on May 19, and registration will take place from May 19 to 20. Students will be able to begin attending classes starting May 21.

However, as this is a mid-semester admission for the first semester, there are important points to note. Under the high school credit system, which has been fully implemented this year, students must meet the completion requirements. If a student does not attend at least two-thirds of the total number of school days, they will not be able to advance to the next grade. Therefore, it is necessary to check in advance the total number of first-year school days at the respective high school. For further details, please refer to the "High School Admission Information" section on the website of the Office of Education or the Gwangju Career and College Guidance Support Center.
