Starting from 8 a.m. on May 1, due to the influence of a band of rain clouds developing ahead of a trough over the West Sea, some rain is falling in Incheon and the western coast of Gyeonggi Province. From the morning, rain will expand to the Seoul metropolitan area, inland Gangwon, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gyeongnam, and Jeju Island, and from the afternoon, rain will fall nationwide.

The expected precipitation is 20 to 60 mm in northwestern Gyeonggi, and 10 to 50 mm in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, and the five West Sea islands. Gangwon inland and mountainous areas, Gwangju, inland Jeonnam (excluding eastern inland areas), inland Jeonbuk, Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, and Chungbuk are expected to receive 10 to 40 mm. Coastal Jeonnam, eastern inland Jeonnam, western coastal Jeonbuk, Busan, southern coastal Gyeongnam, southwestern inland Gyeongnam, and Jeju are expected to receive 10 to 50 mm (with up to 60 mm or more in the southern mid-mountain areas and mountainous regions of Jeju). The eastern coast of Gangwon, Daegu, central and southern inland Gyeongbuk, and the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk are expected to receive 5 to 10 mm of precipitation.

Due to atmospheric instability, strong gusts, thunder, and lightning may accompany rain over the West Sea, with rainfall rates of 10 to 20 mm per hour at times, and some areas may experience hail.

Across the country, winds will be strong enough for instantaneous wind speeds to exceed 55 km/h (70 km/h in mountainous areas). In particular, in the central West Sea coast and mountainous regions of Jeju, where strong wind advisories have been issued, strong winds with instantaneous speeds of 70 km/h (90 km/h in mountainous areas) or more will continue until the afternoon and night, respectively.

The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that strong wind advisories may also be issued for Jeju (excluding mountainous areas) and the western coast of Jeonbuk from the morning, for mountainous areas of Gangwon from the afternoon, and for the eastern coast of Gangwon, northeastern mountainous areas of Gyeongbuk, and the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk from May 2, as these regions may also experience instantaneous wind speeds of 70 km/h (90 km/h in mountainous areas).

With cloudy skies, rain, and strong winds, temperatures are expected to fall from midday to levels similar to or slightly lower than the seasonal average.

The morning low temperatures on this day will range from 8 to 13 degrees Celsius, which is similar to or slightly lower than the average. The daytime high temperatures will range from 16 to 25 degrees Celsius.

In the southern offshore area of the southern West Sea and the nearshore area of the central West Sea, where high seas advisories have been issued, strong winds of 30 to 60 km/h (9 to 16 m/s) and very high waves of 1.5 to 4.0 meters are expected until this afternoon. In the far offshore area of the central West Sea and the northern offshore area of the southern West Sea, these conditions will persist until the early morning of May 2, and in the far offshore area of the central East Sea, they will continue until tomorrow afternoon.
