Hwang Jung Ah, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, announced at a briefing at the National Assembly's press center that "On May 1 at 3 p.m., candidate Lee will hold the second event in the 'Livelihood Series,' titled 'The Invisible Heroes Who Make Your Day - Non-Standard Workers Roundtable,' at a pojangmacha in Jongno-gu, Seoul."
The roundtable, scheduled for May 1, Labor Day, will be attended by non-standard workers such as delivery riders and courier drivers, who will engage in conversation with candidate Lee.
Regarding the background of the roundtable, spokesperson Hwang stated, "As of August last year, there were approximately 1,903,000 non-standard workers nationwide, accounting for 8.6% of all wage workers. These non-standard workers, who make up nearly one-tenth of all wage earners, are facing difficulties due to job insecurity and low wages, and are left in the blind spots of worker rights protection systems such as paid leave on Labor Day." She added, "This event will be an opportunity for non-standard workers, who help shape the daily lives of the public even during late hours and rest periods, to meet with candidate Lee, who himself experienced harsh working conditions as a child, and to share and empathize with each other's hardships and struggles."
On the same day, candidate Lee will also launch the 'Listening Tour.' Spokesperson Hwang said, "Candidate Lee will begin the 'Listening Tour' to immerse himself in the lives of the people and hear voices from the field. The Listening Tour is an upgraded version of the daily 'Livelihood Bus,' which drew attention during the last presidential election, and has been carefully prepared to listen to the valuable voices of the public."
The first Listening Bus will depart from the National Assembly on May 1 and travel to Pocheon and Yeoncheon in Gyeonggi Province. Candidate Lee, who will be attending a separate event that day, plans to join the tour in Pocheon. On the second day, May 2, the tour will visit Cheorwon, Hwacheon, Inje, and Goseong in Gangwon Province. On May 3, it will continue to Sokcho, Yangyang, Gangneung, Donghae, Samcheok, and Taebaek in Gangwon Province. On May 4, the tour will head to Yeongju and Yecheon in North Gyeongsang Province, as well as Danyang, Yeongwol, and Jecheon in North Chungcheong Province, to listen to the voices of local residents.
