Sharing the Latest Trends in Robotic Joint Replacement Surgery from the United States, Japan, India, and Singapore
Live Demonstration of Korea's First Robotic-Assisted Hip Replacement Surgery
The Korean Society of Computer-Assisted Orthopedic Surgery (President: Lee Wooseok) announced on April 30 that it will hold the 4th Robotic Joint Replacement Surgery Symposium under the theme "What's New in Robotics Surgery" on May 31 at Halla Hall, 3rd floor of Dragon City, Yongsan, Seoul.
This symposium will feature leading experts in the field of robotic joint replacement surgery from both Korea and abroad, who will participate as session chairs and speakers. The event will include a total of five sessions and 19 lectures, sharing the latest insights. In particular, this year’s symposium will focus on "Robotic-Assisted Hip Replacement Surgery," covering a wide range of topics from diagnosis and surgery to prognosis.
Professors Han Hyuksu (Seoul National University College of Medicine), Sun Jonggeun (Chonnam National University College of Medicine), Lee Sanghun (SNU Seoul Hospital), and Yoon Jisoo (Bumin Hospital) will present real-world clinical cases and practical know-how in robotic joint replacement surgery. In the knee robotic surgery session, speakers will include Koong Yunbae (Bumin Hospital), Kim Sunghwan (Chung-Ang University College of Medicine), Niraj Adkar (Saishree Hospital, India), and Michael Yam Kui Chee (Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore).
The hip robotic surgery session will feature Cynthia Kahlenberg (Hospital for Special Surgery, USA), Ryuichi Sato (Kanagawa Rehabilitation Hospital, Japan), Hwang Jiho (Hallym University College of Medicine), and Kim Hongseok (Seoul National University College of Medicine), who will introduce a variety of clinical cases from their respective countries.
Notably, Ha Yongchan, Director of Seoul Bumin Hospital, will perform Korea’s first live robotic-assisted hip replacement surgery, providing participants with the opportunity to observe the procedure in real time.
Lee Wooseok, President of the Korean Society of Computer-Assisted Orthopedic Surgery, stated, "This symposium will be a meaningful occasion to explore the future direction of next-generation robotic joint replacement surgery in the fields of hip and knee, and to share practical surgical know-how through live surgery. The society continues to pursue academic activities by exploring the clinical application of advanced technologies such as AI, AR, and 3D printing."
This symposium will be held in a hybrid on- and offline format, and participants will be awarded six continuing education credits. Residents, medical students, and nurses may attend free of charge, and pre-registration is available until May 25 on the Seoul Bumin Hospital website.
