On April 30, Jeollanam-do held a mid-term report meeting for the "Research Service for Establishing Food Industry Promotion Strategies" at the Jeollyak-yong Room of the provincial office. During the meeting, participants discussed ways to improve the promotion plan and additional alternatives to achieve the goal of expanding the food industry to 21 trillion won by 2030.

In November 2024, Jeollanam-do announced the "Food Industry Promotion Plan," which aims to grow the local food industry from 10.6 trillion won in 2022 to 21 trillion won by 2030. The plan includes targets and implementation strategies for five sectors: agriculture and livestock, fisheries, exports, related businesses, and cooperation with relevant organizations.

The meeting was attended by 25 people, including officials from relevant departments and representatives from Jeonnam Technopark. The session consisted of collecting a wide range of opinions and a Q&A regarding the interim research results. The points discussed will be further refined until the final report meeting scheduled for July 2025.

The food industry in Jeollanam-do has recently achieved record-breaking growth, with agricultural and fisheries exports increasing by 23.3% from 630 million dollars in 2023 to 780 million dollars in 2024.

In addition, on April 8, Jeollanam-do signed investment agreements totaling 43.4 billion won with three food companies: Kimiga Co., Ltd., Namdo Food Co., Ltd., and Gwellive Co., Ltd. These agreements are expected to create 214 jobs, demonstrating the province's active efforts to attract investment in the food industry.

Yang Kyungok, head of the Investment Promotion Division of Jeollanam-do, said, "Last year, we established a blueprint for the development of the local food industry by formulating the food industry promotion plan. We will do our utmost to ensure that this ongoing research service, which aims to refine that blueprint, is completed without any setbacks."
