On April 30, Honam University Department of Visual Convergence Design announced that it had signed a business agreement with Jeonnam Women and Family Foundation, Mokpo National University, and Suncheon National University to participate in the "2025 Youth Work Experience Support Project."
This agreement was promoted after Jeonnam Women and Family Foundation was selected in March by the Ministry of Employment and Labor as an operating agency for the "2025 Youth Work Experience Support Project" and secured 280 million won in national funding. As a result, 120 young people in the Honam region will be provided with opportunities for practical experience.
Professors Oh Taewon and Chun Aeri will serve as supervising professors for the Department of Visual Convergence Design at Honam University, and 20 third- and fourth-year students are scheduled to participate in the project during the first semester of 2025. The department also plans to continue project participation in the second semester.
Over the course of eight weeks, students will work in teams to carry out projects related to job tasks proposed by companies. They will gain hands-on experience directly linked to their major in visual design, such as creating promotional content utilizing regional specialized resources and engaging in marketing, design, and branding for companies.
Through this agreement, Honam University plans to leverage its expertise and design infrastructure to cooperate in promoting the project, jointly recruiting participating youth, providing consultation on project planning and management, and connecting pre-job training for participants. In particular, the faculty of the Department of Visual Convergence Design will provide practical support to students as they collaborate with companies, utilizing their specialized knowledge.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of local businesses, vitalize the regional economy, and establish a virtuous cycle for nurturing talent that coexists with the local community. The outcomes of this project will be presented and exhibited at future performance-sharing events and will also be used as part of the students' employment portfolios.
Professor Chun Aeri stated, "This project is a valuable opportunity for our students to directly demonstrate their design capabilities in real work environments. By utilizing the characteristics of the Department of Visual Convergence Design, we will provide creative ideas for branding and promotional content for local companies, and we will actively support our students so that they can build experience through the project and settle stably in the local community after graduation."
