Naver Chairman Lee Haejin Meets Trump Jr., Discusses AI Cooperation

Lee Haejin, the founder of Naver who recently returned to the board of directors, discussed potential avenues for cooperation, including artificial intelligence (AI), during a meeting with Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to the IT industry on April 30, Lee met with Trump Jr. at a hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, earlier that morning for a conversation that lasted about an hour.

A Naver representative stated, "They shared opinions on AI, technology, and global expansion, and engaged in positive discussions about mutual cooperation."

The meeting between Lee and Trump Jr. reportedly took place in a separate secure area within the hotel, with access restricted to authorized personnel only. The movement routes inside the building were also not disclosed to the press.

Lee returned as chairman of Naver's board of directors in March, seven years after stepping down, and is now leading the company's AI strategy. It is expected that the conversation also included discussions on cooperation with U.S. AI and IT companies, as well as entry into the American market.
