The 36th Dongseongro Festival in 2025, hosted by Jung-gu District of Daegu (headed by Mayor Ryu Kyuha) and organized by the Dalseong Cultural Promotion Association (chaired by Lee Junho), will be held over three days from May 9 to 11 in the Dongseongro area.
This year's festival is the first large-scale event to be held since Dongseongro was designated as a Special Tourist Zone. The festival will take place throughout the entire Dongseongro area, from the former Cheil Bank intersection to CGV Daegu Hanil, Dongseongro 28 Art Square, and the former Dongseongro Tourist Information Center.
The festival will kick off on May 9 with citizen-participation programs such as street piano performances, retro school uniform experiences, traditional games, a food zone, and booth zone. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. on May 10 at the main stage of Dongseongro 28 Art Square.
At the main stage of Dongseongro 28 Art Square, a variety of stage programs will be presented, including a performance by the HAZ Band, a gala concert by the Daegu Municipal Theater Company, dance performances, the Dongseongro Song Festival, and magic shows, offering visitors a rich array of spectacles and entertainment.
During the festival, street events and experience booths that highlight the unique characteristics of each section will also be operated. In the booth zone, visitors can enjoy hands-on activities such as the food zone, flea market, and craft experiences. Programs for families, such as traditional game experiences and instant photo zones, will also be available.
In particular, at the busking zone in front of the former Dongseongro Tourist Information Center, a variety of performances?including instrumental music, children's songs, and the National Cocktail Competition?will be held on both May 10 and 11, further heightening the festive atmosphere.
Additionally, a special event for receipts from Dongseongro shops will take place from May 10 to 11. During the event period, visitors who present a receipt showing a purchase of 20,000 won or more at any shop in the Dongseongro area can exchange it for an event prize at the main information center, which is expected to contribute to revitalizing the local commercial district.
Ryu Kyuha, Mayor of Jung-gu District, Daegu, stated, "We have prepared a variety of content to ensure that Dongseongro lives up to its reputation as Daegu's leading tourist attraction," adding, "I hope you will visit Dongseongro with your family and friends to create precious memories on streets where youth and culture come alive."
