The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on April 29 that it would hold inauguration ceremonies for the "K-Influencers," consisting of 1,303 individuals from 95 countries, and the "Korea.net Honorary Reporters," consisting of 1,498 individuals from 101 countries, at the KOSIS Center on April 29 and 30, respectively.

The "K-Influencers," established in 2020, have so far introduced Korean travel destinations, food, and cultural content through approximately 20,000 videos. This year, 1,303 content creators (YouTubers) from 95 countries were selected. Participation from Asia and Africa was high, while the proportion from North America and Europe increased compared to last year. In particular, well-known content creators such as Pragati Verma from India, who has 24 million YouTube subscribers, and Paola Valencia from Mexico joined the group, raising expectations.


The "Korea.net Honorary Reporters," which began in 2011 and marks its 15th anniversary this year, are Korean culture promotion activists composed of foreigners both in Korea and abroad. They cover and introduce Korean culture, events, and policies to the world. Last year, they produced a total of 7,304 articles, of which 1,325 were published on Korea.net. Korea.net is a multilingual portal that introduces Korean policies, culture, tourism, and news to the world in 10 languages.


This year, 1,498 Korea.net Honorary Reporters were selected from 101 countries. Participation was high from Asia and Europe, with balanced involvement from Africa, South America, and North America as well.


The "K-Influencers" and "Korea.net Honorary Reporters" plan to cover major cultural sites in Korea and abroad and produce a variety of content promoting Korean culture according to monthly themes. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will support them in developing practical skills for content planning and production through educational programs such as online workshops, helping them grow into global content creators.


Chae Soohee, Director of Overseas Public Relations Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "'K-Influencers' and 'Korea.net Honorary Reporters' serve as messengers connecting Korea with the world. Through passionate and sincere communication, they are promoting Korean culture globally," adding, "The Ministry will continue to support 'K-Influencers' and 'Korea.net Honorary Reporters' so they can gain deeper and more diverse experiences."
