Last Year’s Automotive OLED Panel Shipments Reach 2.48 Million Units... Driven by Premium Demand

UBI Research Report
Automotive OLED Panel Shipments Up 126% Year-on-Year
"OLED Shipments Expected to Reach 3 Million Units This Year"

As more automakers are equipping their vehicles with in-car displays, shipments of high-end automotive organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels have also surged.

According to the "2025 Automotive Display Technology and Industry Trend Analysis Report" published by UBI Research on April 29, global shipments of automotive display panels reached 236 million units last year, an increase of 8.3% compared to the previous year.

This year, shipments are expected to reach 241.8 million units. In particular, shipments of automotive OLED panels last year totaled approximately 2.48 million units, representing a 126% increase compared to the previous year. UBI Research analyzed that "OLED displays are being actively adopted, especially in premium vehicles, because they can contribute to the sophistication and efficiency of in-car design."

OLED panels are high-end products that offer greater design flexibility and vivid picture quality. The Genesis GV80, released last year by Hyundai Motor, was equipped with a 27-inch OLED display produced by LG Display. In addition, Nio, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, adopted a 15.6-inch OLED and a 14.5-inch passenger OLED display in its 2025 ET9 model. Furthermore, liquid crystal displays (LCDs) are also adopting mini LED technology with local dimming to provide contrast ratios similar to those of OLEDs.

Last year, shipments of mini LED panels more than doubled from the previous year to reach 3.4 million units. The AFEELA electric vehicle, which Sony Honda Mobility plans to launch next year, will feature a 40-inch pillar-to-pillar (P2P) mini LED display supplied by LG Display.

Han Changwook, Vice President of UBI Research, stated, "Software-defined vehicles (SDVs) require performance features such as high resolution, low power consumption, and multi-display, as well as real-time data delivery and optimization of user experience." He predicted, "The adoption of OLED displays suitable for these requirements will continue to expand, and this year, shipments of automotive OLED panels are expected to reach approximately 3 million units."
