Seo Yebin and Others Win 'Myun Sarang Emerging Promising Performer Award'

The Korea Mecenat Association and Myun Sarang Co., Ltd. announced on April 28 that they have selected three recipients for this year's 'Myun Sarang Emerging Promising Performer Award': clarinetist Seo Yebin (24), horn player Kang Minseong (23), and violist Yoo Seoyeon (22).

Now in its third year, the 'Myun Sarang Emerging Promising Performer Award' selects three individuals each year from among the winners in the piano, wind, and string categories at international music competitions held within the past five years, providing each recipient with 10 million won per year for three years. In addition to those who placed in the official rankings announced by competition organizers, recipients of special awards such as the Jury Prize, Critic's Prize, and Audience Prize are also eligible.

On the 25th, selected third-term performers are taking a commemorative photo at the 'Emerging Promising Performer Award' ceremony held at Medytox Business Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Clarinetist Seo Yebin was a finalist at the 2023 Jacques Lancelot International Clarinet Competition and won third place at the 2024 Ghent International Clarinet Competition. After graduating from Korea National University of Arts last year, she is currently studying at the Conservatoire National Sup?rieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.

Horn player Kang Minseong won third place at the 2023 Jeju International Wind Ensemble Competition, second place (with no first prize awarded) at the 2022 Dong-A Music Competition, and the Gold Prize at the 2024 KBS KEPCO Music Competition. He is currently enrolled at Yonsei University and made his debut last year at the Kumho Young Artist Concert.

Violist Yoo Seoyeon won first place at both the 2022 Johansen International Competition for Young String Players and the 2024 Oskar Nedbal International Viola Competition. At the Oskar Nedbal Competition, she also received the Audience Prize. She is currently studying at Seoul National University.

Lee Chungkwan, Secretary General of the Korea Mecenat Association, stated, "The reality is that the costs associated with participating in competitions, such as airfare and living expenses, place a significant burden on performers. I hope that this support will be helpful to performers who are constantly honing their skills and preparing for the international stage."
