Selected for Gwangju City Project... Secures 20 Million KRW in Funding
Customized Psychological Support Linked to "Home-Living Project"
Care Home Hub to Prevent Solitary Deaths
Gwangsan District in Gwangju is taking an additional step to provide emotional care for residents living alone.
On April 28, Gwangsan District announced that it has been selected for the "Solo Together for Single-Person Households" project, organized by Gwangju City, and will implement the "Mutual Mindfulness" initiative to support the mental health of single-person households. The project budget secured through this selection amounts to 20 million KRW.
The core of the "Mindfulness" project is to provide psychological and cognitive support services to single-person households at high risk of social isolation, aiming to help them achieve emotional stability and restore their social networks. Gwangsan District plans to expand its preventive care system based on residential areas by linking this project with the existing "Home-Living Project."
The main hub will be the "Care Home," which is scheduled to be established within the permanent rental apartment complex in Usan-dong. Professional staff, including nurses and social workers, will be stationed there to provide personalized psychological support and group programs by directly reaching out to single-person households.
Park Byungkyu, the head of the district, stated, "In this era of super-aging, we will establish a care system that enables everyone to live healthily in their own homes," and added, "We will continue to provide psychological support services to prevent solitary deaths and to alleviate the sense of isolation among single-person households."
