In May, the Hantan River in Pocheon will once again be awash in a sea of blossoms.

On April 28, Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that the "2025 Pocheon Hantan River Spring Garden Festa" will be held from May 3 to June 15 at the Hantan River Ecological Landscape Complex and surrounding areas.
Now in its second year, the Garden Festa established itself as Pocheon's signature festival last year, attracting 300,000 visitors. During this year's 44-day event, a vibrant array of spring flowers?including lupines, chrysanthemums, and tulips?will be in full bloom across the expansive 260,000-square-meter lava plateau, welcoming visitors.
In addition to the spring flower garden, various themed gardens will be created, including a rose garden, artist gardens featuring works by local artists, a stone pagoda garden made from Hantan River stones, and a tropical plant garden. Large topiaries shaped like giraffes and elephants will also be installed, offering special memories for children and families.
The Hantan River Y-shaped suspension bridge, the longest in Korea at 410 meters, is also drawing attention as a festival landmark. This bridge, which won the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) award for structural innovation, offers panoramic views of the majestic gorge, unique rock formations, and the blooming spring flower gardens below.
A variety of hands-on programs will be available. Every weekend, activities such as basalt tealight holder making, garden busking performances, and recreational events will engage all the senses. The festival will also feature the Poyu Market, booths selling local agricultural specialties, food stalls, and food trucks, making the venue even more lively.
On May 17, a garden fashion show titled "Walking with Nature" will take place along the Hantan River, and on June 14, unique programs such as a dairy cow contest and a cow feeding experience will be held.
As befits Pocheon's status as a pet-friendly city, a playground for dogs will also be available. Starting May 3, a petiquette class and agility experience with professional dog trainers will be held every Saturday, promising enjoyable memories for families with their pets.
To help visitors conveniently explore the spacious festival grounds, eco-friendly electric bicycles will be operated, and part of the usage fee can be refunded with the Pocheon Sarang Gift Certificate. For added convenience, parasols will also be available for free rental.
A Pocheon City official stated, "This year's Garden Festa has been prepared as a festival encompassing flowers, nature, experiences, and pets," and added, "We hope many people will visit the Hantan River to create happy memories with family, friends, and loved ones."
Admission is 6,000 won, with a 50% refund available through the Pocheon Sarang Gift Certificate. Pocheon residents, seniors aged 65 and over, people with disabilities, national merit recipients, and preschool children are eligible for free admission.
