SKT Launches Online USIM Replacement Reservation Service... "Minimizing Customer Inconvenience"

SK Telecom (SKT), which experienced a hacking incident that resulted in the leakage of users' USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module) information, launched its online reservation system for USIM replacement on April 28. Starting from 10 a.m. on this day, SKT will begin offering USIM replacements to all customers.

SKT stated, "Starting from April 28, we will operate the 'USIM Free Replacement Reservation System' to alleviate customer inconvenience."

SKT Launches Online USIM Replacement Reservation Service... "Minimizing Customer Inconvenience" SK Telecom's USIM Free Replacement Reservation System Page.

Previously, SKT announced in a public statement the day before that, "To prevent cyber intrusion damage, we will provide free USIM replacements to customers who wish to do so at more than 2,600 T World stores nationwide from 10 a.m. on April 28, and will also accept online reservation applications."

The USIM Free Replacement Reservation System can be accessed via the webpage address, search portal sites, or the main banner on the T World homepage. After identity verification, customers can select their preferred replacement store and submit their reservation application.

Identity verification for the application is carried out through mobile phone authentication. During this process, the customer's name, the first digits of their resident registration number, CAPTCHA code, and customer phone number are verified.

The preferred replacement store can be selected by searching for the store name or address on the application page. The system also offers a feature to filter and search only stores currently accepting applications. When searching for a store, information such as the store's location, business hours, and contact details are also displayed.

At SKT agency locations, staff will compare the customer's ID with the reservation confirmation text message to ensure that the new USIM is provided only to the actual subscriber in person.

Once the reservation application is completed, a confirmation text message will be sent to the number of the store where the customer applied to visit. Subsequently, a separate notification message including the visit date, store name, and store address will be sent. The notification regarding the replacement date will be sent in the order reservations were made.

The waiting screen for the USIM Free Replacement Reservation System is also linked to the 'USIM Protection Service' subscription page, allowing customers to access the application page directly.

Meanwhile, SK Telecom has also introduced a feature that allows customers with multiple lines under their name to apply for USIM replacements for all their owned lines at once.

An SK Telecom representative stated, "We will do our utmost to minimize customer inconvenience related to the recent cyber intrusion incident."
