'The Breath of Baekje, A Thousand Years of Love' Slogan
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province will hold the Iksan Seodong Festival for four days from May 3 to 6, with events taking place at Jungang Sports Park and Seodong Park.
According to the city on April 25, this year's festival will be held under the theme "The Breath of Baekje, A Thousand Years of Love," presenting Iksan's unique Baekje stories through engaging content.
The festival will feature four main themes: ▲The Parade of King Mu (The Birth of a King), ▲Become King Mu RPG (Golden Seodong), ▲Seodong Starlight Garden (Kite of Love), and ▲King Mu's Seal (King Mu's Dream). Through these, visitors will experience a narrative encompassing the life, love, and dreams of King Mu of Baekje.
On the opening day, May 3, the "King Mu Ritual" will be held to pray for the well-being of Iksan citizens, along with the "Parade of King Mu," a grand reenactment of the procession of Baekje's 30th King Mu, taking place at Jungang Sports Park.
The parade will be a performance-style event composed of five acts: ▲The Birth of the Dragon, ▲Challenges and Trials, ▲Courage and Growth, ▲Coronation of the King, and ▲King Mu's Dream. The parade will dramatically depict the story of King Mu, enhancing audience immersion. Following the parade, the opening ceremony will feature performances by singers KCM, Park Sewook, Park Joohee, Jang Youngwoo, and Cheolhee, adding excitement to the festival grounds.
From May 4 to 6, Seodong Park will host a variety of Baekje cultural experiences and family-oriented interactive programs. Activities such as the Seodong Art Center, Baekje costume experience, elephant train rides, children's magic and balloon shows, and more will provide enjoyment for all ages, bringing energy to the holiday period.
Food and relaxation areas have also been upgraded. Highlights include chicken and beer offered by local brands Dasarang Chicken and Sevenbroi, as well as healthy kombucha drinks provided by "Koabio," a company based in the National Food Cluster, ensuring a diverse array of delights for visitors.
Mayor Jung Heon-yul stated, "The Seodong Festival goes beyond being a local event; it is Iksan's signature content that modernly reinterprets the historical narrative of King Mu of Baekje. We will do our utmost to ensure it becomes a memorable historical journey for both citizens and visitors."
