123 Billion Won Allocated for Local Currency Issuance

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province has increased its budget by 186.1 billion won this year.
On April 25, Hwaseong City announced that its first supplementary budget for 2025, totaling 3.6889 trillion won, was approved at the city council's temporary session on April 24. This amount is 186.1 billion won higher than the original budget.
The city explained that this supplementary budget was formulated to respond to changes in domestic and international circumstances and the economic slowdown, with the aim of stabilizing people's livelihoods and revitalizing the local economy.
According to the city, the first supplementary budget includes community-focused projects proposed by residents during the New Year's meeting early this year. Major community-focused projects include: ▲16 billion won for rice pest control and support for small agricultural machinery, ▲20 billion won for sewer pipeline construction in the Jeongnam sewage treatment area, and ▲15 billion won for the opening of Bibong urban planning road.
In particular, to promote local economic recovery, the city allocated funds for: ▲123 billion won to support the issuance of local currency, ▲1.4 billion won to host business export consultation meetings, and ▲900 million won to subsidize loan interest for low-credit small business owners. The supplementary budget also includes funds to boost the tourism industry, such as 9.3 billion won for the creation of the West Coast Golden Coast Road and 1.3 billion won for the establishment of a historical and cultural park.
For the expansion of public transportation, the budget includes: ▲12 billion won for the city bus public management system, ▲3 billion won for the operation of the public bus system, and ▲5 billion won for the Dongtan-Indeogwon Line station cost-sharing. For road infrastructure improvement, the budget covers: ▲1.2 billion won for the expansion and paving of the Sugi?Buncheon road, ▲3 billion won for the expansion and paving of City Road No. 31, and ▲2.3 billion won for the expansion and paving of the Gungpyeong Tourist Site connecting road.
In the welfare sector, the budget includes: ▲8.9 billion won to support childcare fees for infants and young children, ▲1 billion won for the construction of the Senior Plus Center, and ▲400 million won for the operation of the Youth Culture House.
Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong, stated, "Despite the difficult economic situation, we did our best to prepare a budget that brings hope to citizens' lives," adding, "Since this budget reflects a wide range of citizens' opinions, we will execute it promptly to ensure the stability of people's livelihoods."
