Asset Disclosure of 38 High-Ranking Public Officials
Dongwoon Lee Reports Highest Declared Wealth at 12 Billion KRW
Seonjo Kim and Youngkwon Bae Also Among Top Asset Holders
Retired Officials Eonseok Cho, Jaeho Jeong, and Jongjun Park Reveal Substantial Assets
Dongwoon Lee, Commissioner of the Busan Regional National Tax Service, has reported assets amounting to approximately 12 billion KRW, making him the current high-ranking public official with the largest declared wealth.
On April 25, the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee disclosed the assets of 38 high-ranking officials whose status changed between January 2 and February 1 of this year, publishing the information in the official gazette.
The assets declared by Commissioner Lee, including those in his own name and those of his family members, total 11,997,010,000 KRW. He reported joint ownership, with his spouse, of a Hyundai Apartment in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul; a Gaepo Xi Residence Apartment in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, under his spouse's name; and a building in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, also under his spouse's name. The total value of these buildings is 10,496,520,000 KRW.
Seonjo Kim, Director of Planning and Coordination at the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, who was without a position in Daegu at the time of asset registration, declared 6,620,040,000 KRW in assets. He owns land in Daemyeong-dong, Nam-gu, Daegu under his own name, and land for a gas station in Bongdeok-dong, Nam-gu, Daegu under his spouse's name, with the total value of these lands amounting to 3,243,000,000 KRW.
Youngkwon Bae, Vice President of Daegu National University of Education, declared assets of 3,191,270,000 KRW, including 2,414,720,000 KRW in deposits under his name and those of his family members, and buildings valued at 683,300,000 KRW.
Among retirees, Eonseok Cho, former Audit Commissioner at the Board of Audit and Inspection, declared assets of 6,624,460,000 KRW. He owns, jointly with his spouse, a Hyundai Superville Apartment in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, and his spouse owns a single-family house in Yongi-dong, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do, with the total value of these buildings amounting to 2,396,120,000 KRW.
Jaeho Jeong, former Ambassador to China at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Jongjun Park, former Chief of the Presidential Security Service, declared assets of 5,224,860,000 KRW and 3,979,950,000 KRW, respectively.
