According to Yonhap News and other sources on April 24, the Gangneung Police Station arrested and is investigating a man in his 50s, referred to as A, on suspicion of murder. According to the police and other sources, A turned himself in to the Gangneung Police Station around midnight on this day, stating, "About ten days ago, I killed a woman in her 60s, referred to as B, near a trail in Seoraksan National Park in Sokcho." At the time of his surrender, A was reportedly slightly intoxicated.

The police urgently arrested A on suspicion of murder and, at approximately 6:58 a.m. that day, discovered B's body near a trail in Seoraksan National Park. The body was found in a remote area, far from hiking trails or roads. It was found that B's family had reported her missing after she did not return home.

The two were reportedly connected through business. In a police investigation, A stated, "As the business I was running with B faced difficulties, we traveled around the east coast areas such as Gangneung and Sokcho, planning to make an extreme choice together," and added, "I attempted suicide with B, but after killing B, I survived alone."

The police are investigating A to determine the specific motive and circumstances of the crime.
