The Korea Venture Capital Association (hereinafter referred to as the VC Association) announced on April 24 that it participated in the Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC), an international venture investment competition held at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, United States, together with a student team from POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) on April 11 and 12.
VCIC began in 1998 as an educational event at the University of North Carolina, where MBA students could experience venture investment firsthand. It has since grown into an international graduate student venture investment competition, with over 1,500 participants from 75 universities in the United States, Europe, and other regions.

The POSTECH student team earned the opportunity to represent Korea at the VCIC international competition by winning the "Korean Graduate Student Venture Investment Competition (UVICK)" in December of last year. This event was organized by the VC Association and sponsored by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Korea Venture Investment Corp.
The "Korean Graduate Student Venture Investment Competition" is designed to provide graduate student investment teams with hands-on experience in venture investment by having them act as venture capital judges, conduct in-depth analyses of startups, and present their investment analysis results. The competition aims to help participants develop practical investment skills.
It is assessed that, through participation in this international competition, the domestic student team gained valuable experience by broadening their global investment perspective and strengthening their investment capabilities.
Kim Hakgyun, President of the VC Association, stated, "Fostering venture investment talent capable of understanding and leading the global market is a crucial task for the future of our industry," and added, "We will continue to provide support so that more young people can take on challenges on the global stage."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the VC Association plan to recruit participating universities and student teams for the "2025 Korean Graduate Student Venture Investment Competition (UVICK)" in June this year. They aim to encourage active participation from outstanding domestic graduate students and accelerate the discovery of global venture investment talent.
