"Wishing for Victory"... Changwon Special City Holds Send-off Ceremony for Provincial Sports Festival Athletes

Changwon Special City held a send-off ceremony for its athletes participating in the 64th Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival at the Changwon Hill Sky Convention.

The ceremony, which took place on the afternoon of April 23, served to boost the morale of the athletes and strengthen their unity, marking the official start of Changwon Special City's preparations for a successful participation in the Provincial Sports Festival.


More than 150 people attended the event, including Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, Son Taehwa, Chairman of the Changwon Special City Council, city council members, athletes and coaches from each sport, and officials from the Sports Association, all wishing for the team's victory. The event featured a flag presentation ceremony, words of encouragement, and an oath by the athletes' representative, with all participants pledging their unified support for the success of the Changwon Special City team.


Acting Mayor Jang Geumyong stated, "On behalf of one million Changwon citizens, I send my heartfelt encouragement and applause to all the athletes participating in the competition," and added, "I hope that all the sweat and effort you have put in will bear fruitful results."


Changwon Special City will send a record-breaking delegation of 1,041 athletes to compete in 35 events, including shooting, athletics, kendo, and tennis, at the 64th Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival, which will be held in Jinju from May 2 to May 5. The team aims to achieve top rankings in all events.


Meanwhile, at the 63rd Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Sports Festival held last year in Miryang, the city achieved first place overall among cities by winning first place in 14 events.
