Highly Praised for Creating Safe Environments for People with Disabilities and Other Vulnerable Groups
Taejin Kim, a member of the Seogu Council in Gwangju, received the Grand Prize in the Conflict Resolution and Social Integration category at the Governance Local Politics Awards ceremony held at the National Assembly Conference Hall on April 23.
The Governance Local Politics Awards are held annually to promote proper self-governance and decentralization, and to discover competent and healthy local politicians. The awards evaluate and recognize basic and metropolitan government heads and local council members across the country in seven categories, including Conflict Resolution and Social Integration, and Community Capacity Building.
Taejin Kim, a three-term council member who received the Grand Prize this year, has served as the chair of the Special Ethics Committee and has worked to address welfare blind spots in the region. In particular, he has been actively engaged in legislative activities aimed at promoting social integration.
It is reported that in this evaluation, Kim's proactive legislative activities received high marks for creating environments for vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and the elderly, proposing policies to address welfare blind spots, securing budgets, and enacting ordinances to represent these groups.
Kim stated, "It is a great honor to receive the 2025 Governance Local Politics Award," and added, "I will continue to take the lead in establishing public-private-government governance in the region and fostering an active administrative ecosystem for conflict resolution and social integration."
