Maybach Taxi Driver in His 30s Gains Attention in China
"Strict Reservation System, Around 40 Rides Per Month"
"Sometimes Earns Over 980,000 Won in a Single Ride"
A man in China has attracted attention for operating a taxi service using a Maybach, the top luxury brand of Mercedes-Benz. He is currently running a taxi business with an ultra-high-end vehicle worth 300 million won and stated, "Sometimes I earn more than 5,000 yuan (about 980,000 won) in a single ride."
On April 24 (local time), the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported, "Mr. Yuan (30), who lives in Beijing, purchased a Mercedes-Maybach S480 for 1.55 million yuan (about 304 million won) and is now operating a luxury car-hailing service."

According to the outlet, Mr. Yuan gained significant online attention by sharing videos of his taxi operations through his social networking service (SNS) account named 'No Yuan Driving a Taxi with a Maybach.' He currently has about 120,000 followers.
According to the videos, Mr. Yuan starts work every day at 6:45 a.m. and serves one or two VIP customers per day, earning an average daily income of 4,000 to 5,000 yuan (about 780,000 to 980,000 won). Mr. Yuan said, "Sometimes I earn more than 5,000 yuan (about 980,000 won) in a single ride," and emphasized, "My service focuses on 'quality' over quantity. With a strict reservation-only system, I handle around 40 rides per month on average." This means his average monthly income is roughly 180,000 yuan (about 35 million won).
He added, "Even after considering fuel, food, and housing expenses, I am able to save about 10,000 yuan (about 1.96 million won) per month," and said, "I enjoy a relatively comfortable lifestyle. The best part is that even at 30 years old, I can drive a Maybach and still save 10,000 yuan every month."
Chinese netizens who heard about this story had various reactions. One commented, "This is not just a taxi, but a luxury experience. I want to try it." Another said, "I applaud him for working so hard at such a young age." On the other hand, some expressed skepticism, saying, "Isn't he inflating the fare under the pretext of driving a luxury car?" and "Could this just be a video uploaded by a rich person as a joke?"
Meanwhile, a Maybach taxi has also drawn attention in Korea. In August last year, the YouTube channel 'All About Jobs' released an interview with Byungjae Kim, who operates a taxi service in Busan with a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Kim introduced himself by saying, "I've been in this business for almost 20 years, and I've been operating with a Maybach for about 7 years."
Kim's car does not have a meter; the fare is 500,000 won for up to 1-2 hours a day, and 1 million won for 10 hours a day. Regarding his income, Kim said, "If there is a big event and I work all 30 days of the month, I could make 30 million won, but the utilization rate is lower than that. If I have customers for just 10 days, I make 10 million won, plus tips." He added, "The maintenance cost of the vehicle, including fuel, is about 1 million won per month. Since the car rarely breaks down, there are no expenses other than fuel." He also said, "I've driven about 100,000 kilometers without any breakdowns, so I'm satisfied. Even if I were to buy another car in the future, I would choose a Maybach again."
