Gyeongbuk Office of Education Civil Service Exam Competition Rate Rises to 10.5 to 1, Doubling from Last Year

The Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jongshik) announced on April 24 that the application process for the first 2025 local government civil service recruitment exam, which was held from April 14 to 18, recorded an average competition rate of 10.5 to 1.


For this exam, 1,235 applicants competed for 118 available positions. Although the number of positions decreased by 101 (46.1%) compared to last year’s recruitment of 219, the number of applicants increased by 56 (4.7%), resulting in a significant rise in the competition rate from 5.4 to 1 last year.

By job category, the general educational administration track saw 849 applicants for 32 positions, resulting in a competition rate of 26.5 to 1, a sharp increase from last year’s 6.7 to 1. The health track had 69 applicants for 4 positions, with a competition rate of 17.3 to 1, similar to previous years.

Regarding the upcoming exam schedule, the written exam locations will be announced on June 2, and the written exam will take place on June 21. Successful candidates from the written exam will be announced on July 21 via the Gyeongbuk Office of Education website. Applicants are advised to carefully check the exam schedule and announcements to ensure there are no issues in their preparation.


Meanwhile, the Gyeongbuk Office of Education held an “On-site Public Service Briefing” at Yeungnam University on April 10 to promote a positive perception of public service among the younger generation. At this event, local university students and exam candidates were informed about the roles and recruitment systems of public service, and active communication took place through a Q&A session.


Park Soonkwan, head of the General Affairs Division at the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, said, “I hope all candidates will take care of their health and prepare thoroughly for the remaining exam schedule. Please make sure to fully understand the announcements to avoid any disadvantages when taking the exam.”
