Songpa District Introduces Four Flower-Lined Walking Paths Filled with Forsythia, Ipom Trees, Canola Blossoms, and Acacia
Recommended Spring Strolls: Ogeum Park, Tancheon Dulle-gil, Olympic Park Wildflower Hill, and Seongnaecheon
Following the full bloom of cherry blossoms, spring flowers such as forsythia, azaleas, and even royal azaleas swaying in the breeze are blooming in succession. As spring draws to a close, Songpa District (headed by Mayor Seo Kangseok) introduces four flower-lined walking paths perfect for a stroll.
■ Forsythia, Azaleas, Royal Azaleas... 'Colorful Ogeum Park'
First, here is a spring flower path that delights both the eyes and the senses. Currently, Ogeum Park is surrounded by yellow forsythia and pale pink royal azaleas, creating a spectacular view. After mid-April, a 2km stretch from Ogeum Station to Gaerong Station is lined with blooming yellow forsythia, offering a breathtaking scene.
As you walk up into the park, you will find a loess trail that preserves the natural hilly terrain of the area. The barefoot walking path, lined with forsythia, azaleas, and royal azaleas?the heralds of spring?offers great happiness. This spot was also selected as one of the '175 Most Beautiful Spring Flower Paths in Seoul' this year.
■ A White Blossom Road in the City: '4.5km Ipom Tree Road'
On the Tancheon Dulle-gil trail, you can find the longest Ipom tree road in Seoul. In addition to the existing 1.2km Ipom tree road (from Gwangpyeonggyo Bridge to Tancheon Water Reclamation Center), 400 more Ipom trees were planted along a 3.3km stretch to the Gangnam Driver's License Test Center, completing a 4.5km-long Ipom tree road at the end of last year. In May, the white Ipom tree blossoms bloom like snow, creating a beautiful view, and the shaded, refreshing walking path is perfect for enjoying spring.
In addition, four main observation decks along the Tancheon trail have been turned into charming gardens featuring roses and other flowers, offering a variety of sights. As you walk along the stream, you can enjoy the flowing water, birdsong, and wildflowers swaying in the spring breeze, providing a rich natural ecological landscape. It is highly recommended as a family outing spot.
■ Stroll Through a Sea of Yellow: 'Wildflower Hill Covered in Canola Blossoms'
'Wildflower Hill,' located at the North Gate 2 of Olympic Park, is covered with poppies in spring and cosmos in autumn, creating a spectacular scene. With an open view in every direction, the hill stretches for more than 1.6km, and when the flowers are in full bloom, it offers a brilliant landscape reminiscent of a heavenly garden. This spring, a wave of yellow canola blossoms is expected to fill the area.
Additionally, the adjacent rose garden makes this spot popular not only among local residents, but also among people of all ages, as it allows everyone to enjoy a festival of spring flowers in the city without having to travel far.
■ Enchanted by Sweet Scents: 'Seongnaecheon Acacia Trail'
In May, Seongnaecheon is filled with the fragrance of acacia. First, there is a 270m section from Mongchon 2 Pump Station to Seongnae Bridge. Along Seongnaecheon, the scent of acacia is strong on the embankment path near Asan Medical Center and Parkrio. In addition, a 560m section from Cheongnyong Bridge to the Korea National Sport University dormitory is lined with dense acacia trees, tall enough to hide the university's fence, boasting both sweet fragrance and beauty. In this area, Ipom trees, canola blossoms, wildflowers, and Geumyeonghwa also grow together, allowing visitors to enjoy a colorful variety of spring flowers. In May, the acacia blossoms along Seongnaecheon are in full bloom, their petals blowing in the wind like snow, harmonizing with the greenery of the trail to create a picturesque scene.
Seo Kangseok, Mayor of Songpa District, said, "In Songpa District, not only the cherry blossoms at Seokchon Lake but also forsythia, royal azaleas, acacia, and Ipom trees bloom in succession throughout the area, allowing everyone to experience the beauty of spring. I recommend enjoying a spring flower outing and taking a healing walk along Songpa District's diverse flower paths, where you can experience nature without having to travel far."
