Voluntary Donations from Public Officials
Warm Support for Residents Affected by the Disaster
Uiseong County in North Gyeongsang Province has donated 43.8 million won in relief funds, wishing for the swift return to daily life of residents affected by the recent wildfire and the prompt recovery of the local community.
This donation was made possible through the voluntary contributions of 23.8 million won collected by Uiseong County officials, including County Governor Kim Jusu, and 20 million won from the welfare fund accumulated by the Uiseong County Office Public Officials Labor Union.
Uiseong County emphasized that this donation goes beyond simple administrative support, highlighting the significance of solidarity among public officials as members of the community who share in the suffering of affected residents.
The recent wildfire caused severe property damage to homes, farmland, and forest land, and many residents are experiencing psychological distress. In response, Uiseong County is making every effort in disaster response and recovery operations, while a culture of voluntary support is spreading within the public sector.
Governor Kim Jusu stated, "As public officials serving the residents, it is our natural duty to take the lead in sharing and helping during difficult times," and added, "I hope this donation provides some comfort to those affected and helps them regain their livelihoods as soon as possible."
Kwon Gideuk, Chairperson of the Uiseong County Office Public Officials Labor Union, said, "As public officials, we believe it is our role to share in the pain of residents and deliver hope," adding, "We will continue to actively participate in various activities together with the local community."
Meanwhile, Uiseong County is making every effort to support the stabilization of daily life and provide temporary housing for wildfire victims, and donations and volunteer activities from not only the North Gyeongsang region but also across the country are providing significant support.
