The SaeHope+ Gumi City Policy Research Committee in Gyeongbuk has begun seeking solutions to foster the 'Gumi Ramen Festival' as a representative regional festival with global competitiveness.

Gumi City Seeks Solutions to Globalize the "Gumi Ramen Festival" Meeting scene of SaeHope+ Gumi City Policy Research Committee in Gyeongbuk.

On April 22, the committee held a policy field discussion at the Geumridan Win-Win Center, focusing on the development direction of the ramen festival and ways to establish its brand identity.

This discussion was hosted by the Gumi Policy Development Center and attended by more than 20 participants, including policy research committee members and experts in the fields of festivals and tourism.

On this day, Professor Kim Byungkook of the Department of Hotel and Tourism at Daegu University gave a presentation on "Global Development Strategies for the Gumi Ramen Festival," analyzing cases of advanced overseas festivals and offering policy implications for establishing a Gumi-style festival model.

Following this, Song Jaeil, Head of Research at the Daegu Policy Institute, Hong Soonki, Associate Research Fellow at the Gyeongbuk Research Institute, and Hwang Byungjung, Director of the Cultural Tourism Promotion Research Institute, engaged in a heated discussion on strengthening self-sustainability, linking with regional tourism, and enhancing brand competitiveness.

Participants especially agreed on the need to establish practical strategies and cooperation models to expand ramen?a familiar and popular content?into a global cultural asset. They also discussed the organic connection between the festival theme and local industries, as well as diversifying experiential content.

A Gumi City official stated, "The ramen festival is a high value-added asset that combines Gumi's industrial resources and food culture content," and added, "Based on the expert opinions presented at this field discussion, we will develop the Gumi Ramen Festival into a world-class festival enjoyed by people around the globe."

Meanwhile, the SaeHope+ Gumi City Policy Research Committee, launched in 2023, is a municipal think tank composed of experts with field experience and research capabilities. The committee is set to launch its second term in July. Over the past two years, the committee has contributed to enhancing the effectiveness of Gumi city administration through various policy consultations and research projects.
