For the Earth, For Us
A Successful Event with Active Citizen Participation
Gimcheon City in North Gyeongsang Province has launched efforts to promote the practice of carbon neutrality in celebration of the 11th Arbor Day and the 55th Earth Day.
On April 22, an event pledging to practice a carbon-neutral lifestyle was held at Hwangsan Park in Jijwa-dong under the slogan "For the Earth, For Us." The event was organized to encourage citizens to voluntarily adopt carbon-neutral practices in their daily lives.
At the event site, a carbon neutrality promotion booth was set up, allowing participants to join the pledge and take part in various side activities aligned with the spirit of Arbor Day, such as tree planting and tree giveaways. Many citizens attended, fostering a shared understanding of the importance of practicing a carbon-neutral lifestyle.
In particular, citizens actively participated by planting trees to directly expand carbon sinks and pledging to take actions in their daily lives, such as reducing the use of disposable products and saving energy, to practice carbon neutrality.
Baek Nakho, mayor of Gimcheon, stated, "Practical solutions to overcome the climate crisis begin with small actions in our daily lives," and added, "I ask all citizens for continued interest and participation in practicing carbon neutrality in everyday life."
Gimcheon City plans to use this event as an opportunity to further expand the carbon neutrality movement and accelerate the creation of a citizen-led eco-friendly city.
