The signing ceremony, held in the 5th-floor conference room of the county office, included five organizations: Jeonbuk Technopark (President Lee Gyutaek), KEPCO KPS (President Kim Hongyeon), KEPCO KDN (President Park Sanghyeong), and Korea Gas Technology Corporation (Head of Energy Business Division Song Minho).
The agreement aims to strengthen the cooperation system among participating organizations and lay the foundation for implementing detailed projects for the hydrogen city, as part of the county's ongoing efforts to transition to hydrogen-based energy and build eco-friendly infrastructure.
Under the agreement, the county will provide policy support and administrative cooperation; Jeonbuk Technopark will be responsible for project management and demonstration; KEPCO KPS will handle the establishment of green hydrogen production infrastructure; KEPCO KDN will build the integrated operation and safety management center; and Korea Gas Technology Corporation will be in charge of constructing hydrogen pipelines and related infrastructure.
Lee Gyutaek, President of Jeonbuk Technopark, the lead agency for the county's hydrogen city development project, stated, "We will lead the creation of Buan's hydrogen city through the clustering of the hydrogen industry and technology demonstration, and contribute to building a carbon-neutral industrial ecosystem throughout Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province."
Park Sanghyeong, President of KEPCO KDN, said, "We will spare no effort in supporting the implementation of robust information security technologies and the nation's top-level energy ICT solutions at the integrated operation and safety management center to be established in the future," adding, "We will actively cooperate so that the county can become a model for future hydrogen cities."
Kwon Ikhyeon, Governor of Buan County, commented, "This agreement is a practical declaration for Buan to become a hub of the hydrogen economy," and added, "We will realize a safe and sustainable hydrogen city model that delivers tangible benefits to county residents."
Meanwhile, the county plans to use this agreement as a stepping stone to accelerate the realization of the Buan-style hydrogen city model by building infrastructure covering the entire hydrogen industry cycle?from production and storage to supply and operation.
