Daegu Office of Education Opens 'Future Vocational Education Center' at Daegu Technical High School... A Space for Fostering Technical Talent

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kang Eunhee) will hold the opening ceremony for the 'Future Vocational Education Center', which is being established within Daegu Technical High School, at 10:00 a.m. on April 23.


The 'Future Vocational Education Center' is a hands-on educational space designed to foster creative technical talent that will lead the future, in line with the rapidly changing world of work. The center will serve as a regional hub where students can directly experience new industrial technologies and design their career paths. It consists of three halls, utilizing the joint practice center and the Dojae Education Center buildings within Daegu Technical High School.

Attending the opening ceremony were Kang Eunhee, Superintendent of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education; Baek Chaekyung, Director of the Education Bureau; Park Heejun, Director of the Secondary Vocational Education Policy Division at the Ministry of Education; Son Hankook, Vice Chairman of the City Council Education Committee; council members Lee Jaehwa, Park Woogeun, Jeon Kyungwon, and Lee Youngae; Lee Byungwook, Head of the Daegu Regional Headquarters of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea from the industrial sector; Kim Youngsoo, Secretary General of the Korea Youth Entrepreneurship Foundation; Yoon Seokdong, President of the Daegu Technical High School Alumni Association; as well as other distinguished guests, students, and parents?a total of about 100 attendees.


The event will begin with a congratulatory performance by the Daegu Technical High School wind band, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, progress report, commemorative speeches, congratulatory remarks, and a facility tour.


Meanwhile, the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education invested a total budget of 15.2 billion KRW and completed the construction and environmental setup of the Future Vocational Education Center over a two-year period from 2023 to last year.


Hall 1 is the 'Smart Factory and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hall', equipped with facilities and equipment for operating joint curriculum courses in smart factory, AI, and big data fields for vocational high schools. It features practice rooms, an AI experience zone, a coding lab, and a smart lab. Students can learn the operating principles of smart factories using various sensors, collaborative robots, and OPC-UA-based communication technologies. Programs are offered to help students intuitively understand how artificial intelligence is applied in real industries.


Hall 2 is the 'Fourth Industrial Revolution (New Industry and New Technology) Experience Hall', offering hands-on programs focused on advanced technologies directly linked to future industries such as robotics, drones, biotechnology, metaverse, and VR/AR content. In particular, a dedicated space for entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education has been created, with business agreements established with organizations such as the Korea Youth Entrepreneurship Foundation. Customized programs will be operated to foster creative problem-solving skills, leadership, and collaboration, enabling students to grow into future entrepreneurs and innovative talent.


Hall 3 is the 'School and Career (Career Exploration and Self-Growth) Hall', which provides a variety of content to help students concretize their career paths based on self-understanding. Practical programs necessary for career and job design, such as career counseling, vocational aptitude tests, mock interviews, and resume writing education, are offered. There is also a space where visitors can learn about the current status of vocational high schools in the Daegu region, visions for successful employment after high school graduation, and Korea's vocational education policies.


In addition, the center plans to lend its advanced educational and training equipment in new technology and new industry fields to schools, so that many students can utilize them.


Kang Eunhee, Superintendent of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "The Future Vocational Education Center reflects educational needs such as customized employment support education for students, joint curriculum for vocational high schools, career and job experiences in future industries, and new industry fields," adding, "I hope this space will go beyond career experiences to become a place where students develop the ability to design their own lives."
